And congrats Fanopticon: 1 million visitors and going strong(ish)

About 8 months ago, the RJYH Fanopticon started on the simple premise that someone out there should keep tabs on the way sports makes people lose their minds. It also began on the even simpler premise that a regularly updated blog with a tie-in to a book on a similar subject would help sell that book.

No idea how we made out on the later, but the blogging thing -- even our quick hit version of it -- started to draw us in. And these days surely no one can argue the Fanopticon's status as THE go-to source on the Web for exceedingly small, occasionally entertaining tidbits about the goof-ball things fans do in the name of sports. We stress "occasionally." And you the clicking public have, as of this week, rewarded us with our 1 millionth visit, and over 2 million page views since we started counting last August, or so says Urchin, our counter software:

Report for RJYH Fanoption Date Range: 8/01/2005 - 4/03/2006
Summary
Total Visitors 1,008,793
Total Pageviews 2,080,730
Total Hits 7,527,522
Total Bytes Transferred 92.57GB

Average Visitors Per Day 4,405.2
Average Pageviews Per Day 9,086.15
Average Hits Per Day 32,871.27
Average Bytes Transferred Per Day 413.9MB

It's enough to make us feel guilty about not posting.

So we'll keep at it. Thanks for the clicks and the tips. Keep em coming. A newsy-ish announcement or two will be coming down the pike soon, so check in. And please support our pet cause of adult literacy by snapping up some goodies in the RJYH store.

Thanks yall.

congrats on 1,000,000

After listening to sports talk radio some today, I would never have thought that there were that many sports fans who could read. Much less use a computer!

Warren, congrats on the $1mil mark! I know I'm one of those who checks in daily to see what the next weird sports story is you have for us.

awesome to hear about the million visitors.

This book is such a great way for "non-southerners" to try and understand what college football means to us. The story about those parents missing the daughters wedding is one that I love to tell people when I try and describe our mentality. My favorite part was other people's reaction to the incident, and how people were upset at daughther for scheduling the wedding on a gameday.

Anyway, great book Warren. Feel free to stop by 13th and 10th street on gamedays and join our pregaming.

Paula -- to clarify, that was 1 million visitors, not $1 million. Unfortunately.

thanks for clicking. you have the coolest dog on the RJYH site...

Yeah -- when I read that part in the book, I thought the daughter was being purposefully vindictive by scheduling her wedding on the day of the Bama-Tennessee game.

And Larry the Dog is awesome. I'm so glad I got to meet him at the Carolina-Bama game in '04, and now have his unreasonably cute doggy image on my cell phone for perpetuity.

Well, Warren I guess I've gone batty because I know you've not been paid to do this. Sorry about the confusion, I use that lingo at work and the fingers automatically typed away.

PS I have the ONLY dog on the RJYH site!

Once again, Newspaper Hack, we see eye to eye.

I blamed the daughter. My wife blamed the couple . . . which is to say, me. Much hilarity ensued.

Rugby players spend a lot of time physical training Compared to other form of sports.I have read the
Rugby laws mentioned on this site. It's a gripping sport which targets the grip strength and the active mindedness of a player. American football and rugby league are also primarily collision sports, but their tackles tend to terminate much more quickly. For professional rugby, players are often chosen on the basis of their size and apparent strength and they develop the skill and power over the passage of time. In modern rugby considerable attention is given to fitness and aerobic conditioning as well as basic weight training.
