Texas A&M recruiting tactics revealed
Texas high school recruit Terrence McCoy -- who's older brother plays at Texas A&M -- explained his decision to join the Aggies in refreshingly candid terms yesterday.
"They take care of you down there," McCoy said. "I know from my brother they keep your pockets full, give you plenty of money, keep feeding you meals. Besides that all the help they give you with football. They keep you on your grades with private tutoring. Just good all-around."
Yes indeed -- money in the pockets: good!! We'll be checking Friday with Fran to see how the conversation went with the NCAA enforcement staff this week. Oh wait -- silly us. To think that a published report about a school stuffing players pockets with money would attract the attention of NCAA investigators! Pah. Silly us.
[thanks Will]

How do you recruit a kid who will actually say that out loud. I mean lets all be honest we all know there are certain "perks" for playing ball but what kind of tard says it to the media. Better yet what coach would waste a scholarship on a kid who can't keep his mouth shut even before he is on campus. I guess coach Fran is going to make him stand in "Kims's Corner".
Yeah, I just thought to myself, "Why would you even say anything like that regardless." The kid messed up by saying that but from everything else I've read following those comments (and trust me we heard all about it from the longhorns) the money he was referring to was their meal money which is always well more than any college kid spends at McDonalds and the off-campus housing they get, which puts my college aparment to shame.
His brother was our scout team QB last season (he was 4th string) so I can't imagine he's getting some sort of big hush, hush payout. If so we might need to have a talk with Fran about priorities.
this was from over a month ago and there was no fallout whatsoever... wtf? you'd think this would put Texas A&M all over ESPN..
