Rammer Jammer cheer controversy continues at UA
AP: "After a victory, like last week's 31-3 victory over Florida, fans sing: 'Hey Gators, Hey Gators, Hey Gators, We just beat the Hell out of you. Rammer Jammer Yellowhammer, give 'em Hell Alabama.'
The cheer isn't just confined to the stadium. An Internet site about Alabama football is located at rammerjammer.com, and a book published last year about Crimson Tide fans was titled 'Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer.'"
Professor objects to taunting nature of cheer.
Students, fans: duh -- that's why it's fun.
Referendum possible.
Hear the Rammer Jammer cheer from Saturday's Bama - Florida game here.

I'm far from an Alabama fan, but that clip is awesome. Would love to have been a part of that crowd.
Warren,
Thanks for the clip. I'm posting it tonight. I was watching the replay of the game, and it was so cool that I paused the DVR, grabbed my brother and said..."Get in here and check THIS out!"
RJYH!
Thanks for the link Warren. Also, thanks for being such a nice guy. I met you at Reese Phifer last year when you spoke to the faculty and then you signed my book and my dad's book last year before the Iron Bowl. You took the time to speak with me both times, and i appreciate it.

What about free speech! ROLL TIDE ROLL! Many soldiers have died for us to have the right of free speech. It's all in fun and excitement! Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer!!!!!
Where can I find more clips of the alabama-florida game?
I went to my first Alabama football game against Tennessee this past weekend. I have never experience anything like it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the origin of the Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer Give 'em Hell Alabama Cheer. Thanks and "Roll Tide".
What does "Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer" mean?
“Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer” is a line from a cheer, typically played when the Crimson Tide has put a game away. Specifically the “Rammer Jammer” was an old campus magazine at Alabama, and the yellowhammer is the state bird of Alabama. They are juxtaposed in the cheer primarily because they are among a very few words that rhyme (approximately) with Alabama. If Alabama has beaten, say, the Tigers, then fans will stand and sing:
Hey Tigers
Hey Tigers
We just beat the hell outta you!
Rammer Jammer Yellowhammer
Give 'em hell Alabama
The cheer has been an ongoing source of controversy over the years. One athletic director banned it because objected to the word “hell” in a school cheer. Also, many Alabama fans consider it bad luck to sing the cheer before a game (with the third line changed to “We're gonna beat the hell out of you.”) Though the band has occasionally flouted that superstition, for now the cheer is sung only when the outcome of a game is certain.
