Bama takes Vols, 6-3: The hit, the throw, the kick.

All I could think about during the first half of this slugfest was how it must've confirmed everything Jack Straw had ever heard about American football. In the second half, all I could think about was how long it was going to take me to get over yet another Tennessee whooping of the Tide. Then, the hit heard round the South:

In RJYH, I suggest the pleasure of a win is directly proportional to how unexpected it is. By that measure, this one will go down as one of the most pleasurable ever. I don't think I'm alone in feeling that way:

Also, I hadn't realized that I have a kind support group out there to help me get through tough games. Thanks to all for torrent of text messages, which provided nearly enough comic relief to get through the first 55 minutes of the game without a mental breakdown. (Not a few were from this gathering in NYC. Nice work on those cheerleader outfits, Huston.)I'd be remiss if I didn't offer a link to the CBS footage of yesterday's Rammer Jammer cheer. It's at the bottom of the page; you can also view "the hit, the throw and the kick."

And if you missed it, Brodie Croyle gets the NYT treatment here.

Roll Tide!

THANK YOU so much for providing the link to yesterday's RAMMER JAMMER!

Those of us in Florida missed it because the local CBS affiliate went immediately to Hurricane Wilma coverage after the interception. They still had the game video going, but they had a voice over about the hurricane.

I was going berserk, cursing the storm for making me miss hearing what I've been waiting to hear for a loooooooooong time.

It was a hard fought game and a good win by the Tide. Good luck the rest of the season.

Warren,
Just how much did you have to pay your editor to get the assignment on the Brodie Croyle article anyway? I mean really do you have pictures or what? Seriously though, it was a very good article and I know how much you enjoyed the game.

It's Monday morning and I still can't seem to wipe the grin off of my face. Truly one of the greatest fought games I've ever seen. I love Alabama football.... I really really do.
